endurance training talk

"Training for Higher Performance in Long Distance Events"
A presentation on training methods to improve race times for distances from 5k to marathon. The session will describe in detail how to improve running economy and lactate threshold.

28 May 2008 (Wed), 730pm - 900pm (1h presentation, 30min discussion)
Cost: $7.50/pax (Nominal charge to cover speakers' fees. Sorry, couldn't get sponsorship.)

Guy is an Australian-trained athletics Coach and British-trained Osteopath with over 25 years experience of providing osteopathic services and coaching advice to sportsmen and women from a wide variety of sports at all levels from recreational to elite performers.

He is a registered Level 3 Coach ( middle and long distance) with the Australian Track and Field Coaches Association. He is currently developing middle and long distance running squads in cooperation with local SAA coaches. Through his company Athlon Pte Ltd he provides training programmes and coach education services for local organizations and individuals. Among these activities his introductory clinics in Sports Massage are in great demand.

Guy was Osteopath and Coach to the Viet Nam National Track and Field Athletics team for the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur 2001 and Hanoi 2003. From 2007 to 2008 he was Senior Consultant Coach to the Singapore Athletics Association.

His athletic achievements include British Masters Cross Country Champion 1984, European Masters 10K road champion in 1984 and Silver medallist in the 10K at the World Masters Championships (San Diego)1984. At 64 years of age he still runs with his coaching groups and now competes for the Singapore Masters Athletics Association.

His publications include: Winning without Drugs (Collins 1990) and more recently, Stretching for Performance- an osteopathic perspective, Modern Athlete and Coach, July 2005

Guy has many years experience of presenting the osteopathic perspective on preparation for higher performance through seminars, presentations and courses.
