bro's performance

The anger has simmered... think the organisers finally have come to terms... and decided to email us the pre-race briefing. Ok, give everybody a chance.. everybody makes mistakes... We din go for the briefing... asked one of our friends what was told at the race briefing.. and realised the starting point is at White sands.. which means the route will be similar to maybe Ace Adventure... well.. anyway there will be 2 national teams participating... our team will just go there to have fun.. anyway we have a overnight marathon swim the day before.. will be very tired! aha...

anyway we went to my brother's dance performance on Sat... it was cool! not the usual HIP HOP.. but something different... there were GAY dances too... ahah and bro was great... will upload his dance photos another time.. because now I only have these photos..

My bro and me after the performance.. oh man... bro was saying I like CHAO DA!

my own views

many people do not understand the reason why people like me will be so competitive in races.. even though those school races...we tend to be very demanding in simple things... its not that we are demanding and picky... but to us, many things like organisation have already been in built within us... when we race, we dun just go to race and play, we go out there to win...

one simple race can cause or rob us of our sponsorship, one simple race can make us achieve our qualifications... and not a single mistake can be deemed to be appropriate...

maybe its also because of my winning attitude and also my position in school, i have grown to be more attentive to many small matters in what i do... i seek to perfection in everything that i do...my friends used to ask me, why are u so competitive... and they understood the reason right after that... they knew the reason was, the sports that I am in and the position that I am in forced me to be naturally competitive ... a nature i have built upon without realisation...

my whole family is like this... my brother who used to be a national waterpolo youth player has raised his own standards by acheiving captain position in the NUS biathlon team and brought the team to champion... then he went on the being the Captain of the NUD Dance BLASt and is now an instructor at a dance school... and he has always been in top positions in SIngapore biathlon... My younger sister, Junko has been the captain of the track and field and cross country team ever since she was in pri sch to sec sch... and she hates to lose...

We all have this kind of fighting spirit which is kinda disgusting to many people.. but to us, its a form of encouragement for us to achieve to our best...

but for me, my fighting spirit has gone down by quite a bit... i no longer was the old Sumiko who used to be very demanding in every race... no longer the one who want to win at every race... i have learnt to be more focussed on my own race and win myself instead.. thanks to coach...
but definitely, i cannot tolerate nonsense when it comes to disrespect.. even peer disrespect... yup!

if you are good to be, i will go all the way out for you... I have coached NTU biathlon team this year... gone all the way to help them to get attire, order, payment and also collection.. lots of time and effort and money was spent in this.. but because I felt it was worth doing, I felt good... Even though i sponsored about400 bucks on them out of my own pocket...

when people order shoes from me, I will keep msging to supplier to find out about the outcome and the delivery... msges cost me money and time too... and I dun earn a single cent .. and i deliver the shoes to my friends without any commission.. I told you, when you are ok with me, I will go all out for you....

but if you offend me, I will give you hell, dun ask me what I can do, but the things I can do to you is not what you can actually expect... expect more than what you can imagine... haha! sounds scary right!

bad attitude from sports club x-physique organisers

I AM SO SO SO ANGRY WITH THE SPORTS CLUB PEOPLE OF 2008... THE ONE IN CHARGE OF THE X-PHYSIQUE...
today my team mate for x-physique informed me that we would have to attend a briefing at NTU this sat at 10am to 12pm.. i was shocked.. why so sudden.. and they require ALL members to go down for the briefing... I have coaching classes and training and i definitely would not want to skip those... my other 2 team mates have a WINGS athletic seminar to attend and my friend has a wedding function for his brother to attend to.. the message was sent too late.. wed sent to us and expect us to go on sat.. 2 days in advance.. what if people had already made plans..
this is NOT the worst...

I politely called up the organiser asking whether we can be excused from the talk because we are really not available.. she say she highly recommend that we go for it. i understand on their side that they need us to be down to explain certain rules and regulations...

however... the thing that pissed me off was this person at the back of the phone.. perhaps the other organiser.. the girl i was talking to turned back and asked the guy whether we can be excused from the talk... and guess what the guy said

..."dun want to come dun come la... later dun come back and complain about us and complain we never say this and that...." I was super pissed off with his attitude...
i told the lady i was talking to,
"heh, i can hear very clearly what he is saying".. she was like "erm..." she din even apologise at all.. this time round, my mood and anger was raised to the brim...

i asked her "can u send any powerpoint slides to us"... "NO WE CANT" was her reply... i said "then can u email us the rules and regulations".
"NO WE CANT" is also her reply... everything was a NONONO...

i have never seen such a organiser before.. everything was to their convenience and not to help the participant... any adventure races that we went, if there was a briefing, it would be make known minimum of one week ago... and the rules and regulations would be printed and given out to the participants... and even powerpoint slides would be emailed to us...

i was wondering.. if the organisers is having a briefing, i would reckon they already have everything written down as what they want to say, which means they should have no problem in emailing us. What is so difficult in emailing the rules and regulations? why cant they be more flexible.. it is not as though we dun want to go down. but due to earlier commitments, we really cant make it... they should have thought all these through...

i already explained to her that we have taken part in the race for the past 2 years... and have been racing for quite long.. is there any important thing we need to take note... and whether any major change for this year race.. she just said "its better that you come down.. i dun think there is any major change, but we will show pictures of some of the stations you will be doing." I said "so any change? what are the important things we need to note.. its better that we have the emailed version" and as expected... NO was her answer

firstly, why is the registration fees raised to so expensive this year... even my friends who are in the national team for adventure race is shocked by the registration fee...
secondly, where is there an extra charge for the bike, where there is not orevious year...
thirdly, the people they hire for the abseiling course, will they be the same as last year.. talking about last year... i think almost 90% of the teams that took part were displeased with the standards.. they caused us to lose our 2nd position.. and the organisers did nothing to help..even though they had already promised us that they will look into the matter... even before they had investigate the matter, they already presented the prize...

of course, why still take part in the race when have so many probs... initially i though it was only 30-40 bucks per person... and was a relatively easy adventure race... so we decided to go for it again ... anyway the distance we have to complete is so short...

and then the price was 60 bucks when we had already signed up... we din know... only one of the team member knew...

my team members wanted to take part again.. and enjoy the race as a team... and they have no bicycles, and this is one of the adventure racers that provides all equipment and no need to bring out own...

and lastly. this adventure race do not require any experience adventure racer to complete it.. it is relatively easy and manageable.. thats why we took part in it!!!

now the attitude of the organisers really turned me off.. i am wondering what kind of standards they are putting in for the race...just based on the attitude the organisers give the participants through the phone, you can actually imagine what kind of people are they... they seem to me like they are just doing for the sake of doing...

i have been supporting almost all NTU sports club events...and this is the first time i am so utterly disapointed by the organising committee...

i must applaud the organising commitee for the vertical marathon 2008... they did a great job.. not because i won the race.. but because they handled the situation very well even with a rainfall... the whole event was very well done... even had free photos for every participant to take home as memory... it shows the effort that they put in ...and the prizes were good! they even had a maze event to keep people busy when they are waiting for the climb to start.. the hand over of participants to the marshalls were very well done... it was very very well... have no complains about them.. though the waiting time was long.. it was as usual for every year and it was for safety reasons.... kudos to these people...

now. i want to find out who that guy with that poor attitude is.. he is just but a junior in NTU.. just joined sports club perhaps... this type of attitude cannot last him ANYWHERE... let me see your face........he , with no apologies...

actually it is pretty easy to find... just find the organisers and will know who he is... i can even recognise his voice now...its totally way off a committed organiser's attitude and deemed to be not competent.... he never know what people's impression of him could have an impact of his event... and he din know who he was handling... so coincidence, he pissed me off... now i am announcing to the whole world.. and to all my athletic friends...i am not looking anywhere good about this event... all because of his words...

Singapore biathlon

as we reached there.. it was getting to 7am.. and my race was due to start at 730am... and guess where they parked!!!...??? they parked at the carpark near the east coast chalet... Carpark D... and our race was starting at carpark F2! my gosh... i was pretty pissed because i know that the whole procedure before the race includes collecting racepack... and lining up to collect... and also body marking... i counted my time... i have 30 mins to walk about 2 km there..... line up to collect race pack, get body marking, deposit my bag and then if i have the time.. go for warm up...i walked away super duper fast to the start point, leaving the 2 guys behind... i told them.. should have dropped me at the F2 carpark instead of D... because their race starts at 830, 1 hour later than mine.. but cant really do much... because giving me a favour for driving me there...but it was a long journey walking to the start point.. i was feeling quite frustrated then...

and as i expected... i reached there.. rushed like mad... then cut the queue to do body marking. as usual saw Willie there.. placed my bag at the deposit area... and then rushed to deposit bag.. by the time i finished everything...it was time to start the race.. i wore my cap, and then my goggles... next thing i knew... "SNAP!!!" the googles went snap! it broke! I was panicking like mad!!!! lucky i went to JD and asked him to lend me his gogggles... he was super great... i told him to go to my transition box to pick out his goggles right after my swim...and i rushed off to the race start point..

as usual, the race was a fighting one... However, this time i din feel strong in my swim.. i felt the tiredness in my arms.. due to no warm up.. and due to the fact that i had not swam seriously for months... the swim became very long as it began to drag further and further.. i was contemptating to stop in the middle of the sea and shout "WHEN IS IT going to END!!!" ahha... i paved my way through the so called 1.5 km swim... and as i was swimmig back, the next unfortunate thing happen.... i felt a hand going right into my swimming costume from the bottom and grab my backside and then came out! i was so disgusted.. felt molested! and i kicked the guy real hard in the sea! I remember kicking him 3 times on his face but he did not retaliate...felt so demoralised...

when i came out of the swim, it was almost 30minutes! i was so shocked... i normally swim a 25mins to 27 mins for my swim .. i thought to myself "must be due to the lack of training...".. however at the transition box, i was even more frustrated.. i could not get my feet to fit into my shoes! I did not have the time to re-lace my shoe before the race.. and i tied it too tight.. i was trying to force my feet into the shoes!!! i think it was the longest transition i have ever made!!!

as i begun to take off for my run... i felt a tinch in my eyes.. my contact lens were coming out.. vision was blurr.. i am 900 degrees ! oh my.. i was praying hard that the contact lens will remain in my eyes.. but every blink i made, the contact lens moved upwards.. made me not able to see clearly...

i saw about 9 girls ahead of me... could recognise some of them... the usual racers... but saw some girls whom i haven seen before.. was wondering who are these... they swam real fast... as i ran. i counted the number of people... i saw Dinah (NUS strongest triathlete, aiming for Sea games 2009), Crystal (National 1500m swimmer), Elaine (National triathlete), Zhiyun (2nd strongest Triathlete in NUS), Maybeline (My secondary school friend) and a few others.. i paced myself and slowly caught up with several of them...

i know that i lose out in my swim and the only thing i could catch them is using my run...
i caught most of the people in front except for Dinah, Elaine and one caucasian... this caucasian i have nothing but praises for her.. her run is superb... really.. she gave dinah a good fight in the run... As i begun to slowly catch the front girls, i realised that my legs did not feel as tired as they used to feel during biathlon racers... i was feeling light and good... and as i was approaching the end line, i saw Crystal in front of me.. i did not expect to see her there.. because she came out of the swim almost 7 mins in front of me... but i did a grave mistake... i ran up too fast and tried to overtake her.. and i lost to her by a second...! I should have stood behind and took her at the last minute without her realising! haha.. i told her that too! never mind, once you commit a mistake, you actually learn something! yup... but it was a great race .. really good one! got 5th, but din feel the strain or sadness that i was not first.. i lost to all famous people in the tri scenes... so i could say i only did badly in the swim... i ran a good run i thought.. 23min 56seconds.. 2 mins faster than last year...

after that, i went to support Eddie and Jd and Alber after the race... they were great! JD did a PB for his run.. I was amazed at his run results!!!it proves that hard work does pay off! good job darling!

and after that the 6SOME took some photos... peishan came down to support her darling Alber...! and Alvin came down to support all of us! it is the first time Alvin is not racing.. thanks for the support.. it means a lot

and below shows the pictures taken with friends i got to know through JP... they are Willie, R4 who is now a father and Daniel! ... lacking of chris.. i think he was still at end ending point taking timings for the competitors when we took this photo...

and then...michelle and me at the hawker centre! she carried me... i said i will carry her but she wanted to do it instead.! ah i felt so fat and heavy man.. even JD has not carried me before... haha...it was a nice photo taken by Alber...
and this is the picture of me running towards the end point... taken by .. i not sure who!... but sent to me by Michelle!
